Amy Douangdara
May 18, 2011
Cristine Lewis, Marie Richards and Amy Douangdara were the only ones that were able to meet from the book group. The other group members were unable to make it.
We all felt that the book is a fairly easy read. Marie and Amy thought that there was a lot of psychology reference that they were not familiar with but it was still easy to comprehend. We really liked this book because it did not make you feel guilty on how you have raised your children. We felt like it rather encouraged you to try some of the ideas that the author suggested. We mainly discussed Chapter 1 because the topic is about "Focus". We all felt that with the cell phone and computer world we live in that we are easily distracted. And our world is so busy and chaotic that we do not give our children our full attention that we should. We went off on a slight tangent and discussed how we dealt with the electronic/computer age world that we live in. We discovered that none of us have cable and that our families don't seem to miss it. And Amy says that in her household she has a “No Electronics on Sunday” which means no computer games, electronic games or internet. We all definitely recommend this book!
